DEKACON Completes Project at Iconic Australian Landmark

What a privilege it was to once again work along the coastline of the beautiful Northern Rivers Region, this time at the iconic location of Cape Byron’s historic lighthouse precinct!

The precinct sits on Australia’s most easterly point and offers spectacular ocean views and a front-row seat to nature in all its rugged beauty!

DEKACON was engaged to undertake civil works at the iconic precinct for NSW NPWS.

To eliminate disruption to visitors, night works were undertaken within the National Park precinct.

Nightworks included;

  • Carpark upgrade
  • Re-line carpark including;
    • all carpark bays
    • shared zones
    • no standing lines
    • speed humps
    • and other road markings
  • Asphalt pot hole repair work

Other works also undertaken within the Byron Bay Light House precinct included;

  • Removal of old rotted / damaged logs and edging
  • Installation of hand-formed concrete kerbing to carparks
  • Pouring of concrete slab to meet requirements for picnic table usage with wheelchair clearance
  • Installation of a new NPWS Byron Bay Lighthouse sign
  • Pouring of concrete slab for the relocation of a solar parking ticket machine
  • Installation of signpost sockets for relocation of new parking ticket sign
  • Installation of a curved section of Armco barrier rail

All works were performed with zero impact to locals and tourists visiting the Lighthouse both during the day and at sunset.

DEKACON is proud to have been engaged by National Parks to complete work at one of Australia’s most historic and iconic landmarks, and consider it a privilege and an honour to be a part of the landmark’s continued improvements.
